Many years of experience working with beginners has convinced us that there is no such thing as a non-musical child. Every child is naturally musical. Whether this musicality develops, whether a child enjoys making music and wants to continue learning — this largely depends on the adults around them: parents and teachers who help reveal the child’s abilities, nurture their interest, and create an inspiring environment.

Book 1, Part 1of "Hello, Piano!"is designed to be a reliable guide at the very beginning of that journey — at the first and most crucial stage of learning. Its main goal is to give every child — regardless of their background — the opportunity to approach the instrument with joy and curiosity, to explore sound and movement without fear, and to begin making music and imagining from the very first lesson. We strive to make each child feel like a real musician right from the start.

We believe the pre-reading period should be both engaging for the student and highly effective for the teacher. Hand position, sitting posture, coordinated movement, keyboard orientation, sense of rhythm, physical freedom while playing, and emotional responsiveness to music — all of these develop naturally and gently, through musical games and shared discovery.

The accompaniment tracks for each piece, accessible via QR codes, allows teachers to focus fully on the student — observing their movements, posture, and technique without needing to accompany. When the “orchestra” joins in, the exercises come to life — they gain musical richness and turn every lesson into a mini-concert. Most pieces can be played in various tempos, including a “Bonus Tempo” for especially enthusiastic learners.

The piano exercises are arranged so that they can be played not only “traditionally” - on the white keys, but also according to the method of Frédéric Chopin. In his sketches for the method book Chopin advises, for example, that preparatory exercises for scales should begin in B major, as it is more convenient for long fingers to play on the black keys. Playing the same pieces first in C major and then in B major will allow pupils to learn to orientate themselves even better on the keyboard, and teachers will be able to continue working on hand placement with even greater efficiency. The black keys will cease to be “strange strangers.” In addition, from the very first lessons students will hear how the same piece is colored differently in various tonalities: this is how their imagination and fantasy will be awakened.

Book 1, Part 2 of "Hello, Piano!" is the logical continuation of Book 1, Part 1 and serves the development of musicality, emotional responsiveness, and also supports the technical progress of the young pianist.

In the first part of Book 1 (the tonal period, first steps), we explored and learned such important elements of early piano instruction as:

• Correct posture

• Well-formed hand position

• First motor skills

• Orientation on the keyboard

• Introduction to rhythm

• Coordinated movement of the body while playing

• Emotional responsiveness through expressive sound production

This awakens imagination, sound sensitivity, and musical thinking — qualities at the heart of meaningful musical education. We sincerely wish you inspiring lessons, creative discoveries, and joyful moments of shared music-making with “Hello, Piano!”
